Self Portrait

George Wright, sculpture and director of The Heron's Nest Gallery on Vashon Island invited me to create work for a self portrait exhibition at the gallery this month.  Above is my contribution, "Back to Back, They Faced Each Other" an 8 x10 x 2 inch Monotype print, portrait, mounted to a wood panel box.

The show is quite fun and a bit of a challenge to identify fellow artists and friends.
Here is a link to The Heron’s Nest.  Stop by when you have a chance.

  1. I'd recognize that handsome profile anywhere, well uh, actually it took a while for me to see it flanking the goblet shape, or rather creating the goblet shape. Ahhh, the secret of the holy grail...

  2. Maybe the Unholy Grail.
The tittle is from a poem my Aunt Millie taught me.

    Two Dead Boys

Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman who herd the noise, came and killed the two dead boys.
If you don't believe this lie is true.
Please ask the blind man who saw it too.

What the? Don't know now why that was so appealing to an eleven year old boy but it is forever lodged in my brain.
